How often have you heard about someone getting hurt during an activity? The truth is - you can be injured while golfing, jogging, skiing, walking, playing tennis, or getting out of bed. However, if you are properly warmed up, you are much less likely to be injured, while participating in your favorite activity.

With all of the cut backs in physical education, and the super-sizing of our youth, Yoga should be a strong consideration in our public schools. The sad fact is - many children cannot run around the block once, because they are too far out of shape, or just plain too big. Yoga in a chair, proper diet, and a regular walking program, has the potential to prevent health problems for obese children.

...Lets think about it: Being a kid these days is not what it used to be. If you grew up watching Leave it to Beaver, you cannot really relate to the current peer pressure, multi-tasking, sub-par education programs, and daily distractions that our children and grandchildren accept as part of daily life.

Family structure is not what it used to be either. Many children live in single parent households. This has become a painful fact of life for children to accept growing up without both of their parents. The family unit has changed and parents need practical solutions a lot more than criticism or a lecture.

So, what happened to the concept that Yoga is not a spiritual practice? Well, it is, but some popular physical forms do not address spiritual health. It should come as no surprise that, very often, the student who says he or he already knows everything, does not and never had a Guru. If intolerance cannot be purged from within a particular Yoga student, he or she should be banished by any self-respecting Guru.

Life is too short to waste your time teaching those who dont want to learn. In talking to my colleagues, I have found similar sentiments. Who among you wants to waste your time?
