Ashtanga yoga means "eight limbed yoga" which is designed to cleanse the body and the mind. There are eight spiritual practices of Ashtanga yoga and they are Yama, niyama, asana, prananyama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana, and Samadhi. All of these mean something spiritual.
